Traxxas E-Revo Review Summary
The Traxxas E-Revo brushless monster truck is built for brushless power right from the start, and it comes packed with 6S LiPo power and intense custom-wound brushless motors. This extreme 65+mph motor 1/10 monster truck has been engineered to endure the kind of horsepower and punishment that’s possible with today’s motor and battery technology. Now on to our Traxxas E-Revo review.
Our experience and Traxxas E-Revo review
The Traxxas E-Revo is fast, especially when fitted with 2 x 3c 25S 5000mah LiPo batteries – out of the box this RC car goes around 35mph and lasts around 10 minutes of play. You would want to upgrade the wheels as the stock tires are a little thin and can easily get destroyed / deglued with heavy bashing, but this is true of almost every Traxxas vehicle.
The Traxxas E-Revo uses laid down shocks, which sit inward and are almost completely horizontal. They are activated by cantilevers on either side and are connected to push rods that connect to the suspension arm. This setup looks heavy and a high center of gravity setup, but it protects the shocks from damaging during crashes.
The A-arms have three push rod mounting options that allows you to quickly adjust and fine tune the stiffness of the suspension. During our test, we found the A-arms to be the weakest parts of the Traxxas E-Revo and broke upon a collision.
The knuckles at all four corners of the truck use pillow balls, which allows you to easily change your camber. Toe-in angle can also be adjusted right out of the box.
The suspension right out of the box is very stable and yet still capable of going over some very rough terrain. The ride might be a little too soft though, the Traxxas E-Revo does not really lean over in turns but it squats a lot in the back. This made the rear skid plate hit the ground a lot. That said, it is possible to bring that rear higher up with many tuning options.

Like other Traxxas models, the speed controller is waterproof (an upgrade from the last version). Power Cell iD NiMH batteries were included right out of the box, and you can replace it with your choice of Power Cell LiPos with no modification needed, and we highly recommend you use LiPos because the difference seen is huge. This has the mxl-6s ESC with the same castle motor as the mamba version, and you can hit 65mph with 2 x 3s batteries (be prepared to shred your tires at this speed).
While the Traxxas E-Revo is a little on the expensive side, you can’t beat the performance and parts availability of this RC car.
Conclusion of the Traxxas E-Revo review
Other than the A-arms and wheels being the weakest parts, the Traxxas E-Revo is a solid truck that is durable, fast, has good handling and versatile. We like that the Traxxas E-Revo performs as advertised, and while it may not be the right truck for everyone, the Traxxas E-Revo brushless 4wd delivers as it claims.
